New Water Supply Technologies and Development of Water Utility Management

The 7th International Symposium on Water Supply Technology was held in Yokohama for the first time with support from the International Water Association (IWA). IWA President David Garman gave a special lecture and specialists from the World Health Organization(WHO) held special sessions for "Water Security Planning." Also, The Japan - China Water Supply Technology Symposium was held at the same time, making the symposium even more international. Under the main theme of "New Water Supply Technologies and Diverse Development of Waterworks," there were lectures by invited speakers from oversea and Japan and presentations of research papers in subcommittee meetings and a general panel discussion. The participants were engaged in active discussions throughout the symposium. In addition, the exhibitions that were held simultaneously was titled "Water Yokohama 2006" and attracted as many as 13,680 visitors in total.
